I was at walmart today shopping for my protein drinks for my post op diet in 2 days :-) and I saw these little liquid shooters called NEW WHEY PROTEIN 42grams in 1 shooter. I thought maybe that could be a another good way to get so e protein in. Has anyone tried these?

Almost completely unusable protein for us. Save your money.

My pleasure.

If I remember right, they are nearly all collagen protein (useless) -- and they taste like a$$, too.

yes - I got a free sample once from some company I ordered protein powder or something from. It was awful (the New Whey shot, that is...)

I haven't tried them, I'm sure you'll hear from those who have. Just a head's up right of the bat here though: those protein shots used to be made with collagen protein, which we don't absorb well post op. The best protein to use after surgery is whey protein isolate. To get the maximum value from your protein the first protein listed in the ingredients should be whey protein isolate.

It's even better to use products that only use the isolate.

I'm a ways out and I may be completely off base - others will respond and correct me if I'm wrong - but honestly I haven't seen a big change in recommendations for protein types.

Good luck on your surgery!

I used some protein shots early on because I didn't know any better. They do taste terrible and the conventional wisdom is the protein is a type not usable. Better to try to find a regular protein drink you can stand to drink. Diane S

I was told "NO" on protein shots. My nutritionist was very firm on my protein and made sure I was drinking only Protein Isolate. I can't remember if there was a limit on grams per serving. I know my protein powder had 30 grams of protein. I didn't do well with the Premier shakes, they tasted nasty to me. I love Magnum Quattro. I went through a variety until I found the one I like. Everyone has different tastes. Find a health store that gives out samples. The one I shop at will actually let you return a container if you didn't like it.
