It's my first day of full liquid and I don't know if I can do this. Im really struggling! The 2 week post op clear liquid will I b starving how I am now? My surgery is in 1 week. This is rough. I tried to find sugar free yogurt for substance but can't find it ANYWHERE. I thought maybe sugar free ice cream instead and called the dietitian to ok SF ice cream instead but she hasn't returned my call. Did any of you do SF ice cream on you pre op full liquid? I know this phase is to shrink my liver si not sure the effect SF ice cream would have.

There is no such thing as sugar free yogurt or sugar free ice cream. They both dairy products and contain lactose, which is a sugar.

You can eat no sugar added yogurt. Greek yogurt made with artificial sweetener would be the highest in protein. I use plain Greek yogurt and flavor it with a fruit flavored Mio water enhancer. You can add a tablespoon of sugar free vanilla or cheesecake pudding mix to it if you want it a little thicker.

No sugar added ice cream is still very high in calories and is a trigger food for many of us. Better to avoid ice cream all together.

The answer to your question....Yes.

Bummer, I know.

Even though I had two weeks pre-op liquid diet my doc just said liquid. Not low cal. Not high protein. Just liquid. I drank slimfast, Crystal light, gatorade, lemonade, and popsicles ect. Surgery went well. Lost 10 pound during those 2 weeks. 20 in all now 1 week post op. I'm very hungry... :( But 20 pounds!

You only have 1 week. You better find out from the physicians office what he means by liquid...

The yogurt isn't going to say SF. All yogurt will have "sugars" in the nutrition information, because it's made from milk, and milk has natural sugars. The important thing is to make sure there is no added sugar. There are many brands of plain yogurt with no added sugar, such as Siggi's and Fage. They are very tart, though, and you will probably need to add sweetener and flavoring to them, unless you like savory yogurt. All pre-flavored yogurts are going to have added sugars.

There is nothing wrong with eating things that have the natural sugars, just stay away from added sugar.

there is no such thing as sf yougur, again. You need to look for no sugar added, or one sweetened with artificial sweeteners, like Splenda.

not everyone is hungry after surgery. You are hungry now from detoxing off carbs , including sugar. After 3-4 days, if you don't cheat it will get better.

Icream, no.

My doctor's list expressly says Dannon light and fit or Oikos triple zero. Neither of them have sugar added, so they would be okay for you.

Stick to your plan. It sucks, but you will get through this. Honestly for me the 2 weeks pre-op liquid diet was the absolute worse part of the process.

I did not do ice cream on the pre-op diet. I stuck to bariatric advantage shakes 100% of the time, which was what my surgeon told me to do. I was determined to follow the rules and make this work.

did you lose weight since you were drinking the protein shakes all the time on the full liquid diet? I worry that if I drink the shakes my weight wont decrease and my liver won't shrink.
