Why would it be controversial to pursue WLS having BED?

I have BED. How I know I have it is that I am unable to stop stuff I g food in my face even when my the decision making part of my brain is screaming STOP.

I'd say it's currently in remission as I have only had two events since January. Both of them limited, not by the compulsion, but by my sleeve.

I don't graze, for me this behavior is always a brief and out of control event. It's triggered by intensive emotions both good and bad.

Thought I was extremely resistant to doing a 12 step thing, in the end what helps me most is OA. I go to at least one meeting a week.

Hi! My college aged daughter really struggles with her weight. She has ADD and has had severe depression and anxiety issues since a small child. Based on her eating behaviors, I have wondered if she might have BED. She has asked me for help with her weight struggles. Where would you suggest she start if she wants to look into BED more? She currently works with a psychiatrist on her meds, and has a regular behavioral therapist she meets with twice weekly.

It seems like the most logical place to start would be talking with her current psychiatrist and therapist.

The wiki article for BED lists the diagnostic criteria, so it's worth reading them and seeing if they resonate. If they do, then she should talk with her team about her concerns.
