With me it didn't happen after surgery it happened back when I was 14 or 15 my drinking. After surgery I didn't think I would want to drink.

It was all about losing weight. I thought I would never want to drink again.

I just like to add that I was an alcoholic way back before surgery. I was just masking my anxiety and my pain I was in in my head.

Me too. There was a deep pain. That hole inside that I spent my life trying to fill with food, alcohol, drugs... therapy has helped understand the pain. Now the hole is closing. I will always have the reflex to use poor behaviors to sooth my emotional pain when it flairs its ugly head. But I have a healthier arsenal now.

This food addiction thing is tough... since we can't just say no to food like we can with meth, or cocaine, or alcohol!

Hang in there, you are doing the best you can, and that's pretty awesome if you ask me!

I guess what I'll say is " don't beat urself up" . We all eat a lot more calories than we " think" we do especially when working under pressure, sleep deprived , or otherwise uncomfortable ( like working so many hours you MUST eat or order food out ) .

I find the calories are burned through the stress and extra daily moving .

As far as drinking I can't offer any advice - I drink a bit to relax like a normal person and then I fall asleep lol.

What I am sick and tired of is " food policing " every bite that I choose and censoring my fun and enjoyment of my own ( very short) life.

I wan t to achieve as much as possible and have as many experiences and fun as possible now.
