100 grams of prot a day. How can that be difficult?

RNY on 12/22/14

An ounce is 28 grams. So 100 grams of protein is about 4 ounces! Easy - WRONG.

There is more to it. Not everything in even a dense prot is protein. A 3 ounce (total weight of 84 grams) serving of canned tuna (no mayo, celery, etc) has only 24 gms of protein. So, 100 grams is actually 12 oz of tuna in one day. No wonder I still need a prot shake on a busy day.

Here is a list of most of the dense proteins (I did not see bacon, so it is not complete. LOL to you bacon lovers)

Behavior change: So, I made a turkey (no-salt) lunchmeat for BF and there was 1 cheese slice left. I used 1/2cheese slice with pile the turkey. In the old days, I would have eaten the other half of piece of cheese while I was making the meal, I mean, why bother to save 1/2 a slice of cheese. I would have just popped it into my mouth without a second thought. Now, that 1/2 slice goes back in the frig for another meal.

Keep up the Protein First!!

Look up WinCo economy bacon. It is the thick cut good stuff. As I recall it is 80 calories per slice.

On MFP: Winco economy thick slice - 111 calories; 7.5 grams protein. Maybe it is different than what the package says? Anyway, MFP shows around 70-80 calories and 5 grams of protein for most other bacons.

Just for grins I looked it up myself. It shows 7 grams of protein per slice and 111 calories. They definitely updated the calories because I have 80 calories written down here. I would have sworn that it was 10 grams per slice.

Still worth eating! LOL! I had one slice of thick cut bacon crumbled into my egg salad today!
