Opinions on alcohol

Rapid weight loss is hard on the liver, and you're in the middle of the rollercoaster so it's working overtime. Adding alcohol during this phase can subject you to permanent liver damage. You want to wait until your weight loss stops, or slows greatly. This is around a year post op.

Like you, I was not a big drinker before surgery - 2 drinks a year lol. I waited until about 18 months after surgery to even try alcohol. I think I am not the norm, because it didn't seem to affect me any differently after surgery than before surgery. I think having half a donut made me feel more odd than a gin/tonic. Best to just use good judgement when eating/drinking something we know is not nutritious, full of calories or may trigger other addictions.
