Updated thoughts - I usually do this at the end but wanted to put this here first. I was almost 2 months out when I was trying these recipes. Also, check with your surgeon before you try any of these, they may not want you to test the carb/sugar amounts in fruit And always use Low Sugar juice otherwise skip it.

Protein Recipes!

Oct. 16, 2004

Feeling better and the wounds are healing. Now I have to work on my energy!!! Eating is ok, by that I mean most of what I try is going down but I am not getting in the 60 grams plus. Maybe 25-30 on a good day. Protein is still a big problem for me. Just can't drink it unless I gulp (which is hard for us to do) and hold my nose afterwards. Eating the protein bars seem to be a little better. I found some recipes for protein drinks that I am going to try.

Basic Instructions:

I've got to start using my big container of vanilla Premier protein powder (couldn't tolerate it after surgery). Before surgery, I always used a few frozen strawberries and plain yogurt. I am looking for ideas to change up my shakes. I can't use any juice or fruit other than berries (small amounts don't mess with me). Maybe some extracts and sugar-free syrups (though I don't like a real sweet taste). Thanks for posting these.

Yes, it helps to get creative but that being said you have to be carful early out as anything will/can make you sick. You are doing GREAT! Keep it going!!
