So far I have had 3 jellos, a cup of broth and popcicle? How many jellos a day? Popcicles a day? How many cups of broth a day? I know water water water

Are you doing this on the advice of your surgeon or...?

If I were doing this without doctor guidance, I would primarily drink water (or Crystal Light) and only us the other stuff if I needed variety. Sugar free things still have calories, as does broth. Not to mention broth tends to have salt and where salt goes water follows.

i ate sugar free Jello with abandon because it was the only "solid" food I could have for two weeks. I think broth was restricted - maybe one or two cups a day (?) because of the sodium (it's been awhlle so I don't remember exactly, other than broth was allowed but restricted)

I ate a lot of SF popsicles, too. Those weren't restricted, either (at least on my two-week clear liquid diet)

You are on a 5 day liquid diet to lose 8 pounds? Is this prescribed or do you have a weigh in that day? My response will depend on yours.

I have to weigh in that day and I freaking out that I won't make it.

Be careful of the sugar free popsicles. They replace the sugar with crack cocaine. You'll go through all the popsicles in your house, then all the supermarket has. Before you know it you'll be robbing banks to get more sugar free popsicle money.

LOL, my drug of choice is the Publix sugar free popsicles. Helped me lose 18 lbs on the liver shrinking phase prior to surgery.

I might be wronged but it sounds like you were supposed to lose weight over a longer period but didn't follow your plan and now you are scrambling to make up for a month (or more) of weight loss in less than a week. Even if you "succeed" on the scale, then what?

Please don't starve yourself for the sake of a number on a scale. This behavior is one of the things that cause us to be overweight in the first place. Instead, go to your appointment and discuss your eating behaviors and get counseling or treatment to help you truly succeed.

WLS is not magic. It will make your stomach smaller but it will not change your behavior. The process still takes a great deal of commitment. Even after you manage to lose the weight. You probably know this on some level and might even be annoyed at me for saying it, but trust me, you need to understand this deep down in your soul. And it's better to deal now than to wait till you are a year post op and regaining your weight.

You are absolutely right. I'm starting to wonder if I couldn't follow the simple 6 month pre op guidelines if the surgery is meant for me. I want this surgery more then anything but I can't seem to push myself away from the food. I'm my heart I feel as though the surgery is a tool and I don't want to waste the tool away by not being able to rid my addiction to food. I have been in counseling for 2 months and still struggle.
