NSV first 10k!
This morning I only planned to do my usual 5k walk.
Since we moved, I've been trying different routes to see which ones are the most scenic, or have the most shade (a big deal, since it's always in the low 100º's in the morning when I walk), or are the most interesting.
Yesterday I was a bit of a goof and was taking short videos when I passed by local landmarks ("Oh hey, I live within walking distance of XXXXX!"). This morning I GoogleMap-ped a local Mexican joint that our friends like to go to, and Google said it was only 1.6 miles away. I thought I would just walk over there, do a silly video and walk back, which would be about 5k.
As I was nearly there, my phone told me I had already gone two miles! Well, if I was going to walk 4 miles total, I might as well walk 5 miles (my usual stretch goal)... so I kept walking. Hit my major cross street and decided, what the heck, I'm going to do a Grand Circle tour of the neighborhood, and I just kept going.
6.5 miles later, I ended up back home. What a great two hour walk! Feeling great and very happy, though that could just be the runner's high that hit between miles 5 and 6. ;-)
Can't believe that I can do this! So happy to have taken control of my weight, my eating habits, and my life.

thanks for sharing - what a great day for you!!!
