Bread - The enemy?
My nutritionist completely eliminated grains from my diet, except on special occasions. I've been following her advice for 2 weeks, but I am having problems completely giving up bread. I have switched to wheat, and majorly cut back otherwise, but am still tempted to sneak a roll here and there.
My question is...do any of you still eat bread or should I just buck up and realize that I can't eat it anymore if I want to lose weight? Is there anything, besides lettuce wraps, that you recommend?
On another note, I'm kinda bummed because after 2 weeks of following a high protein, low carb diet and working out, I gained 2 pounds. I know, I know...it's too soon...or is it?
Any feedback is welcome.

Carbs are generally accepted as useless in the WLS world. You are always working towards a protein goal and once your stomach is 20% of its original capacity bread provides very little nutritional benefit. I've had 3 bites in almost 6 months since surgery.
I also avoid any other grains. No rice, quinoa, corn, etc.

Have you had surgery or are you pre-op?
I don't eat bread or, really, processed/refined carbs at all. So no bread, pasta, rice, etc. Once in a blue moon I'll have a bite of something, but I'm also 3.25 years post-op. I didn't even have a bit for the first year post-op.
Cheese "wraps" can be nice. Heat shredded cheese in a skillet until it melts and forms a round, then you can take it out and let it cool when it will still be pliable.
Are you measuring and tracking what you're eating using something like MyFitnessPal? It is possible to gain weight on a high protein, low carb diet because you can still eat more calories than you're burning with that diet. Especially if you're still eating wheat bread.
What's a normal day's meal plan look like for you?

I'm pre-op. My first appointment with the surgeon is later this month.
I am using MyFitnessPal. I had to re-adjust the settings recently due to a job change and was disappointed with how much a sedentary job affected my daily allowed calories.
A typical day for me is as follows:
B Protein Shake or swiss and salami (probably not the healthiest choice)
S Cheese stick and/or yogurt
L Turkey and pepperjack wrap (just tried it without the wheat bread a few minutes ago), 9 chips and an apple
S Grapes
D Salad, squash, zucchini, and broiled chicken
Do you think my apple and grapes are too high in sugar? I know I should eat veggies instead, I have just found it hard to incorporate them into my daily work. Any tips on prepping veggies in advance are welcome.

Regarding "daily allowed calories" - it's best not to consider activity in this. Too many people fall into the trap of thinking "Oh! I exercised/moved so I can eat more!" And when you're trying to lose weight, this is not a trap you want to fall into. Weight loss is at least 80% about diet, if not more.
I'd skip things like the chips, apple, and grapes. They won't help you reach your goals. How many calories are you consuming? Are you logging what you're drinking as well? Liquid calories can have a HUGE impact on weight.
A lot of people have success with veggies with prepping them on a weekend day when they've got more time - that might work for you.

I admit, I'm guilty of adding a hundred calories if I work out with my trainer.
As for liquids, I quit Coke a few months ago and just drink water.
Calorie wise, I'm consuming approximately 1900 which I know is really high, but is below what I should be eating to lose weight. I'm aware that post surgery the goal is more like 700.

So if you're consuming 1900 calories and not losing weight, the simple truth is that, no, it's not below what you should be eating to lose weight :(
Try decreasing to 1800 for a week and see what happens. If you're still gaining, or not losing, try decreasing to 1700 for the next week. Etc.

I may have read this wrong, but it seems to say you have eliminated grains. But then it says you switched to wheat? Wheat is a grain. Once you get off the high carb stuff it gets easier.
