flushing, not as bad as a hot flash, but irritating...

Turn red and blotchy, get a headache, whine a little, go to bed!

I don't even bother. I'm high on freakin' life, anyway.

I had app 4 oz of beer today (sharing my guy's beer) . I got a hot flash. I am still burning up. And I had the beer around 3-4 pm so app 6 hours ago. Alcohol always make me get a flash, not as bad as niacin flash, but longer lasting. And different from hormonal hot flash.

Alcohol was my first thought, but I would think the flushing would be after drinking some not randomly throughout the days and nights. I have had three alcoholic beverages the past couple of weeks, but this has been happening throughout the day and night? None the less, cutting alcohol out and hoping for relief!

I commented earlier, but OH ate my post.

The same thing happened to me when I was 20. I had gained weight (to 190) when I was 19, and was heavy for a few months before I embarked upon a very draconian starvation diet. I remained in that phase of incredibly strict restriction, exercising madly all the while, for about 3.5 months, at which point I stopped - I had brought my weight back down to 135. Towards the end of that diet, I too was experiencing fairly frequent, random flushing - my face, neck, chest and arms would turn bright red, and my flushed skin felt as if it was radiating heat, and it felt a little tingly. These episodes lasted for 10-15 minutes before fading and occurred 2 or 3 times a day. When I started eating more normally again the flushing gradually ceased. I am not sure what caused it. I didn't experience any fatigue, but then again, I was only 20.

You are describing it pretty well! My exercise isn't excessive, but sadly I'm so out of shape that my body might not agree!

I have hyperhidrosis and it causes random flushing of the neck, chest and face. It also causes excessive sweating. Something to ask your doc about, maybe.

I also get that reaction if I ever try drinking alcohol.
