WTF? Just need to vent I guess....
I always read all the responses, before I say anything. I especially glad I did, in this case.
Ok, he's pushing 80. He has ALMOST earned the right, to have no filter...lol
Is there ANY chance he could have been teasing/flirting/ribbing you? Just playing Devil's Advocate. I could see my grandfather doing something like that

We Can Do Hard Things
Old people often become incredible but-in-skis. An opinion on everything and the need to say it all.
Glad you defended yourself, because if it keeps up, your responses can become more direct. "Sam, you've been around long enough to know that commenting on someone's weight can be ________________" distracting or obnoxious - depending on your level of I hate this job and now I have to deal with this **** - or I like my job I just wish he would shut up about my weight).
Sometimes it takes something really unacceptable for us to see that something has been unsatisfying for awhile.

Some men think its ok to comment on personal appearance. Years ago one guy used to always comment on what I was wearing - mostly not negative, just something like "blue today" but it annoyed me. I don't know if he did it to others. He would comment if he saw me eat a piece of candy (in my fat days), but he was not my boss. Its hard to get snarky with your boss when he probably means no harm, but you can just not get defensive and say "Thanks for the tip" and keep going with whatever you are doing.
P.S. Mr. Candy Comment is now fat and I am not. LOL. Diane S
