Ha, you figured out my ulterior motive--I am obviously angling for a pity-goat.

Totally.

I've been angling for one of these for about 8 years now. Every holiday passes, no damn mini-donkey.

I hear you. I make fewer crappy choices than I did presurgery, but I still sometimes make them. Emotional eating has and will likely always be something I fight. Sometimes I feel the whole day goes by well, and other times I am white-knuckling it minute by minute in an effort to not eat all kinds of carby junk.

I fight badgers with spoons.

White knuckling seems to be my go-to lately when there are temptations. I don't get what is different. But I can be the same way - fine 95% of the time and then BAM thinking ooooh I want that ice cream sandwich RIGHT NOW. I hate it.

I journal. Keep one around the house and write instead of eating. I look back on some of my writing and think wow, that would have been 10 candy bars

Well i'm only 8 months out and sometimes make poor choices. It's going to be a forever learning curve. If that was the total of your poor food choices I think it's not that bad. Don't beat yourself up. The good news is your being accountable and conscious of your actions, and want to change.
