BBQ Dish to Pass Ideas

What do you bring to BBQ's as a dish to pass that you can also make sure provides you something to eat? A meat isn't an option as this more of at an outdoor potluck (it's at work). Though I suppose I could do a deli tray, I wanted to actually make something though. I'd like to avoid an egg based dish as there are allergies in the group specific to eggs.

My wife makes a killer baked bean dish that has bacon and sausage in it. Make something like that and it's protein heavy and you control what goes in it.

Admittedly this is more sugar than most of us want. Adjust as desired.

1 pound spicy pork sausage

6 slices bacon chopped up

1 red onion diced

1bell pepper diced

1 can black beans black beans

1 can red kidney beans

1 can white kidney beans

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup ketchup

2 teaspoons mustard

1 teaspoon vinegar

bake in oven at 350 for 45 minutes

Voila!

Well if you soak & prepare dried beans, & use Splenda versions of sugar, and something to thicken, it might be commensurate. SOUNDS FABULOUS. Maple bacon?!!

My go-to for a huge group are Caprese Skewers http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2016/12/healt hy-and-easy-holiday-party-recipes.html drizzled with pesto sauce. You can assemble the night before and put them in one of those aluminum baking trays for transport.

I'm a simple cook (don't like to do it), but everyone always likes these: Marinate boneless chicken breasts overnight in light Italian dressing mixed with Dijon mustard. I slice the breasts in half so they aren't so fat (what do they feed the chickens these days?!?!). Grill until cooked through.
