Thank you for all your input. I thought I was doing good by adding in this item when I couldn't reach 1200 baaad idea. I am new to this and was not doing the math right. Trial and error. It's frustrating because I put all my food in my tracker (high protein, low carb) and it still isn't up to 1200 so I have to go back and add more food. Which is odd to me because I am satisfied. The reason why I want to b at 1200 is because I am afraid if I'm not my body will go into starvation mode.

If you are under 1200 and satisfied, don't eat more. If you've reached 60 to 80 grams of protein for the day, your body doesn't require any more.

Starvation mode is not real. Starvation mode is not real. Starvation mode is not real. Starvation mode is not real. Starvation mode is not real. Starvation mode is not real. Repeat this with me.

I do believe there is a kind of starvation mode where starving people stay alive, like in concentration camps, severe anorexia or during droughts and famines. I believe it sets in when all fat and muscle are gone and the person is literally skin and bones. At about 70 pounds for a man and 60 pounds for a woman.

As long as your body has fat to burn, it will burn that to make up for missing calories. Anyone who needs weight loss surgery is far from starvation mode.

Some smart personal trainers told their high-paying clients that they were not losing weight because they were in starvation mode. It caught on and people loved up their calories to lose weight. However, it never works.

Net carbs... eh. I use total carbs, because "net carbs" can get dicey fast with processed food. I still limit sugar-free items and also sugar alcohols. Everyone Is Different And All That Jazz, however.

Sweet things have a syngerestic effect in the body. The sweetness triggers insulin secretion, but the sweet taste also can alter the neuroendocrine and hormonal responses.

Additionally, eating when not hungry just "to eat" is always a bad idea, as it messes with your idea of hunger. The one exception would be people who absolutely have to eat or be malnourished severely due to higher protein and fat needs (like the DS surgery). Then you absolutely must get your protein and fat in at least.

If you think you need calories and can't bring yourself to eat something very low carb and nutrient dense (a chicken breast) likely you are not hungry and you don't need to eat.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!
