PLEASE HELP......
Hi I am pre -op and have to get below 289lbs by July 19th to get my surgery date. I am 297lbs now. I have downloaded my fitness pal and have drastically changed my eating within the past 5 days. I try to stay under 1200 calories a day. High protein, low carb of course. Well it seems my high protein choices have FAT(of course) what is some of your rule of thumb of what u stay under for fat and carb grams??? Ty in advance.
I never care about fat. At all.
I have a calorie goal to stay under. And keep carbs as close to nothing as I can. If I do that, everything works out well.

Really Grim? ( I always learn a lot from you) I was getting concerned about my fat intake on MFP tracker. Are you saying this is not something that you tracked? I know that since my 70 lb loss, my cholesterol went down 100 points .. i always connected fat to cholesterol so, that blew my theory and what I think I have been taught all these years.
There are days I get 150 grams of fat. I'm always over 100. And my last cholesterol was 122. All of my cholesterol numbers are great.
Fat doesn't increase cholesterol. It's actually a result of too many crappy carbs.
My protein is always high, and carbs low. If I stay under my calorie limit, it doesn't matter where my fat number ends up.

I agree. Fat in food doesn't make you fat and cholesterol in food does not equate to high blood cholesterol. Post surgery, my cholesterol was the highest it's ever been, like 306 high . . . and that's when I was eating lower fat. Since I increased my fat consumption, I'm more satisfied and my numbers are falling (currently at 180, which while not at my pre surgery levels, is MUCH better than 306)

YES. I eat less than 40 a day, and less than 30 while losing.

For me, in the losing phase, low carb was key. I stayed around 30g or less a day. This means lots of meat and fish (which is how you will want to eat after surgery so it's a good habit to get into). Now is a good time to start eating things like ground turkey or beef with taco seasoning and cheese. Grilled chicken. Salmon or shrimp. Cheese. Try Light and Fit greek yogurt for sweetness. If you miss a "crunch" then eat pickles, microwave some pepperoni or turkey pepperoni into crisps, put a tablespoon of parmesan cheese on parchment paper and microwave it into a "cracker". I promise you will lose weight and feel more full eating dense protein. Now is also a great time to practice no drinking with meals or for 30 minutes after. Even 3.5 years out, I still do this religiously! Good luck!
