RNY 2009, Hiatal Hernia repair mid May. Complications....
Since having the hiatal hernia repair I have been very weak, exhausted, dizzy and sharp pains under my ribs, my right abdomen and mid level chest. I have been sent to get IV fluids 2x now for dehydration. The last time was Friday but after many picks the staff said to go home, call m physician Monday. They suggested a picc line. The last time they did get the fluids took 6 tries. This time they stopped after 4. I do have fibromyalgia and a bulging disk in my back (chronic pain) but this pain I feel in my stomach, etc also applies to my back. Is this all the surgery causing this I wonder? I am miserable. Not to mention I still cannot eat food. On my bday (6/1) I was told I could try soft food but my pouch didn't like it. So here I am back on a liquid diet. I will be contacting them in the morning, but does anyone know anything like this?
A lot of these issues are a direct result of dehydration. You will never feel better until you drink enough. Make that your absolute top priority.
An IV will give you fluid one drop at a time. You can drink it at that speed.
One you are rehydrated, you can evaluate your other possible problems then.
