I agree not bad at all when you have a kitchen, I only notice my food preferences being more limited when I do international travel and am relying heavily on eating out...unless I throw eating properly out the window.

That's how I feel when on road trips with the family. They tend to grab something at every rest stop (and we stop often since I have the bladder of a 6 year old). It's hard not buying "little something", but reality now is those little something's makes for 1/2 or more of my days calories. I pack my snack and eat them when they stop for goodies.

The road trips are killer. My biggest issue is that Mr MeanOne likes to keep stuff in the car and eat constantly when we are on the road - which was never an issue pre wls - but grazing is a big thing for me and my will is weak when it's right in my face.

We just did a road trip Memorial Day weekend and we are going to have to talk before the next one...

It had been awhile for me. No issues for me but just was shocked at how much we all use to eat. I guess I have selective memory

I have the opposite experience. My SO is a normie. When on a cruise we ate 4 times a day. I lost 3 lbs, he gained 7. He is not used to eating as often. Plus with all the desserts on the ship - that I had none of (except SF jello and some berries) he was in desserts heaven, and it showed. Plus all the fresh bread. (I try not to eat grains- they make me feel bad). Fyi: He lost the 7 lb in 2 weeks after we got back, but still... It was funny.

I don't eat a lot at one setting- but I eat 4-5 times a day. And I always have snacks with me : nuts, nut butter, jerky. When we are traveling together - my SO eats more than when we are home, because he eats more often. I have bad influence on him. Plus - I am bad suggesting he gets desserts I like, but can't have. Lol... And some items I order - to get a bite or 2 (sweet potato fries) he would get the rest of it.

Same here. For the first year after WLS by SO gained weight by eating all of his meal plus most of mine. It took a while before my head caught up & we started sharing meals. Now we've got it down. :)

Hahaha this is how my friends feel. If they are with me all day I'm eating 4 to 5 times a day and they grab something too but they will get regular chips or something and I pull quest chips from my purse. Everyone will get fat hanging with me.

OMGosh I have not been on a cruise in years. This was something I use to do with my Mom after my dad passed away. Then when I lost my Mom Jim and I would go at least once a year. I advice photos like the plague and he took a photo of me when I didn't notice. When we got home and had the film developed I saw the photo and almost died. It's my before photo on my profile. Needless to say it was after the cruise that I started to deal with how out of control my life was. Hmmmmm, maybe I should cruise again.

The spouse and I are doing our first cruise since my VSG (with another couple), and I have to admit that I'm a little apprehensive about doing it... at least the actual meals are the correct size! (Minus side dishes, appetizers, etc.)
