From the Trendweight site you can do it without a special FitBit or Withings scale -- If you don't have a scale, you can do things manually by creating a FitBit account and hand entering your weight there every day. Go ahead and connect your TrendWeight account to your FitBit account as if you had a scale. TrendWeight won't know that your weight readings were entered manually.

This is the methodology the site uses -- https://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/ -- The techiques used on TrendWeight come from John Walker's The Hacker's Diet. I found it to be an interesting read (and it's free!). In particular, I recommend reading the "Signal and Noise" chapter for a better understanding of the weight tracking methodology used on this site.

I hope this helps!

Gwen, thanks so much for guiding me to the Fitbit tracking site. I find it much easier to use than Fit Day and other sites I've tried. This is a tracking app I can stick with!

Weighing once a week isn't anywhere close to "ignoring" my weight... what happens on those (frequent) days when you are 100% on plan and the scale is up 3 pounds? In my case what happens is that I get discouraged. Weighing once a week first thing in the morning means that (most weeks) I will see the scales dropping without the ups and downs of daily weighing.

I am not to the point what over eating is an issue, but when I get there I will not stop weighing myself to avoid seeing the consequence of my behavior.

You may want to check out my ticker. It shows my weight loss month by month. I got up to 800 calories asap and was at around 900 by month 3. I stalled every month. Usually twice a month. I lose In drips and drabs. It is normal for me. What I've found is that over time I can predict my stalls so it becomes a shoulder shrug...yep I expected it. Vs a panic.

I wish I could add notations like this to my Trendweight (on the actual site). I could note things like "overate during graduation weekend!" And "I always lose weight in NYC!" ;)

I think that one thing we forget is that we likely didn't weigh ourselves often while we were gaining weight. And, if we had, it likely would have mirrored our losing weight measurements - i.e., not a straight line of consistent gain/loss. I'm sure we all gained weight erratically. Just like we lose it :)

I know, right? I started my pre-op program in September. When I went in for October, the doc says, "You lost ten pounds! How did you do that?" I said, "It's October. I always lose ten pounds in October."

Don't ask me why. Of course, it comes back in November (Thanksgiving) and December (Christmas).

That graph is hysterical! Thanks for sharing. It does help to vent the frustration in some form.

Weighing myself every day helped me a lot with trends too. I learned I stall right before my period every month, then gain 3-5 pounds while on my period, then usually end up a few pounds lighter than before my period started. EVERY MONTH. I had a period every 2 weeks for about 15 months post-op, so that made the stalls even crazier. I got used to stalling and then having weight coming off in chunks.

If I didn't weigh every day and track it, I would have gone crazy.

If I ever get bored enough I will make a graph with my period dates and my weight loss chart to see visually how they correlate.

I got to 370 plus, not weighing myself. I'm going to weigh myself every day or every other day forever so I never lose that accountability. I don't want to have to wait for my clothes to get tight to catch a gain, but then its already too late.
