Stalled! Again, like every other week!

I've been in another stall the last week or so. I am expecting my period any day now and I know I could be retaining water, but I also know that I haven't been tracking as well lately, so I've been forcing myself to get back on track with that.

If you aren't losing on 600, why not try 800? How much protein are you getting in a day at 600 calories?

Still doing two 30 gram protein shakes each day plus whatever meat I can get down. Should be plenty. I have the metabolism of a sloth.

When is the last time you had your metabolism tested?

Found a Dr. who specializes in hypothyroidism last year. She did a complete and exhaustive work up on me. I'm on Naturethroid (half tablet 3-4 times a day, because that is what works for me). While switching to a natural desiccated thyroid hormone helped with several issues, it did not result in the ability to lose weight. Post-menopausal, that ability completely disappeared.

It is time for a blood test to check numbers, though.

Have you ever had your RMR tested? You lay or sit still for 20-30 minutes. That will give you an exact baseline of calories you burn.

I only weigh once a week because I am more likely to go off plan if I don't see progress or (God forbid) gain...

About 6 weeks ago I went off diuretics and blood pressure meds and gained 6+ pounds... it took 3 weeks to get back down and even though I know I gained fluid and then lost fat, it was frustrating.

Someone suggested that I take my measurements. I redo them every two weeks and find it helpful and encouraging, especially when the scale won't budge.

I highly recommend using something like Trendweight.com to track your weight. I get very obsessed (in an unhealthy way) with numbers and I knew that would be an issue when I started this process. Trendweight lets me focus on my trending weight and ignore daily fluctuations or "stalls." For me, it's a lifesaver. Daily fluctuations sucks, but my trending weight is the only thing that actually matters.

And I'm definitely in the "weigh daily" camp. When I want to skip weighing that's normally a sign that I know I've been eating poorly :P I got to 320 by ignoring my weight. I will never do that again.

Gwen, I checked out the Trendweight site. It will be a while until I can get "connected." Meanwhile, I have a scale that reports fat percentage, fluid percentage, and BMI. I can create manual graphs. What is "trending weight?"
