Surgery in San Francisco... on the cheap??
Mine was $4,400 in Tijuana. My airfare was $472 for both my wife and I. They really took care of us. They even took my wife out for a back massage and lobster while we were there. The place was the cleanest facility that I have ever been to and I work in the medical field. I was thoroughly impressed.
Where did you go and what surgery did you have? Dr.? Sounds as though you were extremely happy with your decision. How are things going for you now? Thanks.
Maybe its at a teaching hospital. Maybe the hospital gets grants or aid performing surgeries that aren't that common. Also the being shady with the family, he could just be embarrassed/ashamed & doesn't want to share his problems with the family. There's such a double standard here when it comes to treating obesity.
Is he doing a show?, starring in a documentary? Maybe he gets a discount? Also maybe his surgery is in SF & they'll pick him up?

It sounds like he didn't want to tell the family that he is going to Mexico so he said he was going to San Francisco instead. He probably is going to San Francisco and then getting picked up or taking a bus or renting a car or taking another flight to LA and going to Tijuana.
See, that's what I thought too... but I doubt he flew into SF and drove to Tijuana... that would be a really long drive! LOL

University of Chicago is a teaching hospital and they charge 8000 for 7 stitches. (Don't ask)
I have never heard of a teaching hospital discounts. They are all around here and they charge you the same, there is no discount for having some med student work on you.
