More sensitive to caffeine?

Do we get more sensitive to caffeine as we lose weight or is this just a coincidence for me? I have never had trouble with caffeine. I used to drink vats of diet Coke, coffee, and iced tea with few consequences. I could drink it before bed and fall asleep easily. There was one incident after I gave up diet Coke a few years ago and switched to iced tea where I had heart palpitations, but I had had 7 big unsweetened iced teas that day (dumb). I stopped doing that and have kept my caffeine intake more moderate since. Post surgery, I'm down to 1 cup of coffee in the AM and no other caffeine.
This last week I've been having crazy, constant heart palpitations. I brought it up with my doctor who ran an EKG (I'm having premature ventricular contractions) and is running a metabolic panel to check my electrolytes and calcium, but in the meantime, I skipped my coffee yesterday as a test and had very few palpitations (but a wicked headache). Today, I had the cup of coffee, no headache, and my heart is back to dancing a jig all day so far.
You're not my doctors, but I'm curious, is this because of the weight loss? The surgery? A side effect of aging? Just bad luck? Anyone else find they're more sensitive to caffeine?
What is the reasoning for this?

My post-op diet book says, "all liquids should be sugar free, non-carbonated and decaffeinated." I know that caffeine can dehydrate you, I'm searching the book for their reason though...ok EDIT and add what I found.
"medical condition....many post-op patients have.... painful inflammation of the esophagus caused by stomach contents backing up" thats from my post op diet book
and as a Atkins dieter, I know their reason for no caffeine is "10)Avoid too much coffee, tea and soft drinks that contain caffeine. Excessive caffeine has been shown to cause low blood sugar, which can make you crave sugar."
But all NUTs and surgeons are different and so are all WLS people, what works for one may not work for anyone else.

Are you by chance from Ontario, Canada? Our OBN books say no carbonated or caffeine. One of the reasons is ulcers. Also the dehydration and many other things. These is a conversation in the Ontario forum about it.

Interesting. That doesn't seem super plausible to me, so I poked around and found this review that has some good information on the topic of caffeine and side effects. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/28438661/

Same here...no caffeine. (My paperwork says limit to 8 oz per day. But everything else I have says no-no.)
