Welcome Jacob! OH is an awesome place to get advice, support, ask questions, help others, post frustrations and victories!
Are you having RNY, VSG or DS done? I had RNY done 3.6 years ago and its the BEST decision I have ever made.
Glad you decided to post! Hope your wife come to OH as well, we love to help out and support!
Best of luck,
Daisy

We are both going in for the RNY although the surgeon would rather do the VSG. He says the RNY is more complicated so it can have more complications. However my wife has acid reflux and we've heard over and over again that VSG is not the best option if you already have acid reflux issues. I could go either way but would prefer to have the same surgery as my wife so that we can be as on the same page as possible re: diet/vitamins/ etc. Although I do know that there is no guarantee of that since everyone reacts differently to the surgery.
Welcome!! Trust me when I say go for RNY if you have acid reflux. Mine was very mild and I still went with VSG. 5 months later my acid reflux worsened.
I'm sorry to hear that. That's no fun. Are they working with you to take care of it?
Thanks for for the advice as well. I'm a bit pessimistic with doctors in general but the surgeon basically said the VSG is easier and if it makes your reflux worse we can always revise it to the RNY. At that point I just figured he was looking for repeat business.
