Vitamins - switching off PatchMD, looking for suggestions
I'm just past 3 months post-op on my VSG, very pleased with the results so far! But - the blood work I had done as part of my 3 month visit showed deficiencies in vitamins A and B-6. My surgeon's office recommended PatchMD from the start, which I have been on since a couple weeks before surgery. However - as I have seen posted in the forums, I guess they work for some and not for others. It was really nice to use them immediately after surgery and not have to swallow pills or chew gummies, but I'm ready to ditch them.
For the record - I've been on the multi+, B12 energy+, and D3/Calcium. According to the values listed on the patches, I'm supposed to be getting plenty of B-6:
- From the multi: 25mg pyridoxine HCl @ 1250% RDV
- From the B12: 100mg pyridoxine HCl @ 5000% RDV
- From the B12: 50mg pyridoxal 5-phosphate @ 2500% RDV
And the multi has 10,000 IU @ 200% RDV of Vitamin A. The nutritionist said to stay on the patches, but to supplement the B-6 with a pill. So I checked out the pills, and they aren't offering those potencies in the pills - I'm thinking if I'm not getting proper blood levels of B-6 with the amount that is supposed to be in these patches, I'm ready to just let the patches go and start with the more traditional pills.
What brands do you like? Where do you buy them from? Appreciate the input!

My surgeon wants me on chewables for 6 months. (I tried swallowing a pill that was larger than any others I take, but smaller than my old multivitamins, and it got stuck. I understand why he wants us to wait!) He recommends Opti-Source bariatric chewable vitamins. I take 2 in the am and 2 at night. They're okay tastewise. I don't think any that have everything you need taste all that great.
Walgreens and Amazon sell them.
