Coming Around The Mountain.........
Had my surgery back in 2014 and was doing great....then I allowed life to get in the way and fell off track. Major issues over a period of time. Boyfriend got sick and over for over a year he was seeing doctors several times a week, hospitalized on several occasions, and then passed away. Then, for the first time in my life, I was living alone. Few months later, my home burned down. Yes, those were life changing events. But we all have major struggles and challenges, don't we? It's part of life.
After maintaining my weight loss for a year and a half, I had started to gain, and I knew I had to nip it in the bud. A few months ago, I made appointments with my Surgeon, Nutritionist, and Psychologist at the Weight Center. Kept all the appointments, and have upcoming follow-up appointments.
My friends here recommended seeing a therapist. What a challenge it was to get started. It is not easy to find a good therapist who is accepting new patients...but after two unsuccessful attempts, I finally got an appointment with a good one. (First therapist "no-showed" for two out of three appointments; second therapist told me several times during our first session that she "wouldn't put up with" things that I accepted...so needless to say, we didn't click.) But my new therapist is someone I feel very comfortable with and she is a very encouraging person.
I also needed accountability. Immediately after my surgery, I was seeing my PCP on a monthly basis, so I naturally was weighed at every visit. Tried OA, but no weigh-ins involved. So I decided to join Weigh****chers....now I'll be weighed weekly.
So far, so good. I'm losing again and I feel in control. I'm following the bariatric diet (800 calories; 40 carbs; 65+ protein; 68++ water) and I feel Great. Still dealing with major pain issues, but have upcoming appointments with Ortho and Pain Management to try to get some relief.
So glad I'm on the right track again.
This is great news! I always note your posts as you live in Central MA where we lived for 35 years (we were in Auburn and DD is still in Dudley).

Mary, my condolences for your boyfriend and my sincerest thoughts for you over the loss of your home. Those are two of the most difficult events that could happen to a person. I imagine most anyone in those situations would struggle with maintaining weight loss. Under the cir****tances, you have done exceptionally well. I hope you can see that.
I commend you for getting back on track, persevering to find the right therapist, the right accountability program, and getting back to your bariatric diet. You got this!!!
I'm so glad you've found a therapist you click with - you should be really proud of yourself for sticking through the process until you did find one. It's really easy to give up after the first one (or two) don't work. (This is what I always did prior to starting the WLS process.)
It sounds like you're on the right path and I'm really happy for you!
