I was just wondering if anyone had any tips to help combat loose skin. I just got surgery the first so obviously I'm no where near having loose skin, yet. But I want to do what I can because I really don't want to have to get surgery and honestly even if it's absolutely terrible I most likely won't get it anyway. I just want to do what I can to help my skin bounce back. I'm 25 my parents both have good skin I have been overweight all my life and I know that will play a role too.. my feeling is that it's going to be in my upper arms and belly area maybe upper thighs but I definitely carry most of my weight in my stomach. I am slightly worried about my chest but who even cares I'm getting healthy loose skin isn't going to kill me the path I was on previously was and now I'm ready to be a better me. Sorry for the little rant haha but any suggestions or experiences would help greatly! Thanks you guys

You've got age going for you and it depends on how you carry your weight too and how much you have to lose. I dropped from 230-160 after a lap band. No skin issues (was late 30's) I got pregnant with a huge baby and then gained up to 260. I've recently dropped to 165 after rny. I now have a little loose skin on my tummy, but most people would not notice. I have more to lose so it will get worse, but most of the damage was my pregnancy. Oh and I'm nearly 50.

I feel for the most part I'm pretty balanced where my weight distributes like I don't have small arms and legs and a huge stomach everything is pretty proportional which hopefully will help. I started dry exfoliating before surgery I'm still doing it every besides my stomach right now because the incisions are super fresh. I'm going to invest in some skin firming lotion I was thinking about getting Palmers and jergins and alternating each day. I'm excited to lose the weight and if the skin is there it's there I'm just going to do my best to help keep my skin healthy and hydrated. Congratulations with your weight loss, it's nice to hear about success stories especially since you gained and lost again, that's so fantastic

I hate to bear the bad news. Its only part genetics. Lotions dont help. The cells will only shrink so far.

Problem is you cant get rid of the extra cells without basically being cut off. I was 22 when I had surgery, my torso is the worst, my upper arms and legs are loose but I can deal (Im getting them back to their old "fighting shape" to help deal with the loose skin a bit).

Alot also has to do with how much one needs to loose or how large one was is specific areas. Things do vary in "bounce back" between MO, SMO, & SSMO. While we all fight a similar battle not all of it is the same. Some get lucky.

Thank you, I feel like my stomach will be the worst too I just hope it sucks itself in or something I don't want it hanging but if it does I'll wear compression garments. The skin surgery looks so painful I don't feel like for me personally it'd be worth it. I may feel differently in the future when the skin is here and not the fat lol

Insurance covered my panni removal back in 2008 (the big hang in front), I had 11lbs of skin removed. I thought I would be ok with it....but no the rashes and annoyances of it in clothes made me get rid of it. Glad I did. In the next year I plan on finally getting the rest of my torso done, Im sick of it and when my autoimmune flares up it causes swelling of the cells and makes me puffy. Im done with it now, lol.

Was recovery absolutely terrible ? It looks so painful and agonizing that's my biggest turn off from it. I don't really have anyone who is around to help me all the time either so that's another reason

It can't be that horrible as many people end up having multiple rounds of plastic surgery.

I was in the same boat as you initially. I figured I wouldn't care about the excess skin so I didn't really consider that I'd want plastic surgery. But then I lost more weight and my extra skin is a hindrance. So I adjusted my mindset to accommodate my new cir****tances. First plastics are in about 4 weeks for me :)
