You've received great advice here. I too cannot drink water. No matter what type (hot, cold, room temperature, alkaline, etc) my body rejects it. My surgeon knows and stated that I am in the 3% that cannot tolerate plain water. I can tolerate Crystal Light but a lot less than my first VSG surgery.

I now drink teas (hot-chai, chamomile, green, even decaf Lipton) and cold. I'm not back to coffee yet (surgeon says six months) so I am missing my coffee. I stopped drinking sodas back in 2015 with the first surgery.

As for the candy bars, substitute with protein bars--there are some really good ones that are tasty. This will help wean yourself off the candy and eventually wean from the protein bars. So, go check GNC or your local grocer and grab a variety to see what you like.

Five pounds is doable. You drop the sweets, you drop the pounds. And please, take time to LOVE you.

You've been warned about liquid calories before. For your sake, I hope you actually take the advice you're seeking this time around.

I think you know what most will say and if people are tough on you it is because they understand where you are coming from and genuinely want to help. Cut out eating the carby food. Lean protein, weigh it, add green veggies. record it in my fitness pal or other app. White knuckle it for a few days to get rid of craving and get off this path you are on. It is great you realize there is an issue and you can and will tackle this before you have gained 30 or more pounds back.

I know it is hard. We all cannot eat perfectly all the time but this is a balancing act and you have to get the proper nutrition in first. Think about keeping a journal and write down how you are feeling when you want a candy bar. you will start to see a pattern and correct it. for me, when I get tired or bored I will want chocolate. Now I recognize this and can find something else to do with my time.

hope this helps.

Stop talking to yourself that way! You should never allow anyone to call you a looser and a failure, most especially yourself. I know what a trap this can be. First the negative self talk, then the giving in and then giving up. You have so much to celebrate. 100 lbs! Wow! Rejoice! Celebrate by adding a mile to your walk. Cooking a new recipe. Planting flowers. Have you nails and toenails done. But stop the negative self talk! Make today a new day - a sugar free day!

And...well...I have to say it - May the Fourth be with you!

It's time to reel it in and go back to basics. It will be SO much harder to lose 15, 20, 50 pounds again. Do it now. Log everything. Eat dense proteins. Drink lots. Wait 30-45 mins after eating.

Keep moving.

Remember: Being overweight is hard. Losing weight is hard. Maintaining weight is hard. Choose your hard.

Hello Tdheason,

My name is Kathy and I am a sugaraholic! Nice to meet ya. I lost over 200 pounds kept it off for over 10 years and life smack me down and I gained. It was all carbs/sugar. You may have a lot of starts and stops as I did but it will click and when it does your body is going to have withdrawals the same it would if you were on drugs! Mine lasted about 2 weeks. But if I can do it after 13 years you can too. See my regain before and after. I have 10 more pounds I would like to drop but not stressing over it. I will send you my back to basics list that helped me. Reach out if you want to talk
