Airport scrutiny

I'm traveling today. My license picture was taken at 377, it says 250 but whatever lol. I'm 134 now and since it's a tight closeup of my face it looks nothing like me.

The TSA was not impressed. Like seriously not impressed. Grilled me about why I didn't look like my license. I get it - security is important and I'm not bothered by taking off my shoes, etc. but why can I not take another license picture until it expires? I asked the DMV if I could and they said no. So frustrating.

That's so frustrating! Any chance you were flying out of O'hare? That's where I always have issues with TSA lol.

I actually had a similar problem. I got my original passport when I was around 12. After a six month stint of living in Southern Africa at age of 19, the TSA peeps refused to believe it was me. I got so frustrated- obviously I looked drastically different as a 19 year old then I did as a 12 year old! I ended up missing my flight because of that. Made me so so mad.

sorry you had a rough experience. But it a way, I guess it's quite the accomplishement. So congrats!

Do you have a series of pictures as you were losing weight?

I used to carry my in between pictures with me for that reason.

220-200-180-160-145... That way they can simply see the transition, and it takes less time to explain why I looked so different from my (already very bad) driver license picture. Plus ...it got to be more like that: "It does not look like you" ..my answer "I know, right? I am so proud of myself for losing all the weight, here- look at that, is it THAT amazing?" And look at them with a smile on my face... What could they say? Right? "Wow, great job.... Here you go..."...

It made my travels so much easier...

Tell DMV you lost your license. Get the form for the replacement. Go get the new photo. It will cost you whatever your state charges, but boom - new ID.

Keep on losing!

Our province is digital- if you lose your licence they send you a new one- but I do think we can update the pic if we ask, and it's required every 5 years. Mine is due this September and I'm hoping to be pretty close to goal by then. :)

RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.

You're in Canada -- my bad. I assumed you were in the US. Most US states will re=issue if you say it is lost. I just may do that with mine because it has 3 years left to expiring.

Keep on losing!

Same thing in Massachusetts as Connecticut. If you lose your license they send you a new one with the old picture.

I don't know the procedure in other states but the DMV in Connecticut will not take a new photo - they will only give you a copy of the old license with the old picture.
