Rant: Beware of product marketing!
Someone recently posted on a facebook group a snack choice asking if it was an ok choice. It was a boxed snack and had 4 grams of protein, otherwise the stats were virtually exactly the same as a Krispy Kreme donut.
If you took a Krispy Kreme donut and sprinkled it with a teaspoon of vanilla protein powder to add an additional 2 grams of protein would it now make that a healthy snack? No, it would not. More protein does not make something healthier, just higher in protein and usually it is only a couple of grams.
It is marketing! Someone else months ago posted a protein version of a cereal. Stats looked different than the regular version of the cereal (more protein/calories etc). the difference was the serving size! that is why there was more protein, also along with the additional protein was more sugar. Again, just have the regular one and add a little protein powder. Same stats now.
Best solution...don't buy food out of a box.
Want sugar? have a piece of fruit or some berries instead.
Don't fall for product marketing! (while we're at it there is no cream in existence that will get rid of your 10lbs of hanging skin or wrinkled stomach...save your money.

Many years ago I drank Pepsi. My mom was talking about her yogurt. I looked at the nutrition facts and compared her yogurt to my Pepsi. Ounce for ounce the Pepsi was healthier.
We were given a sample from the grocery store of some breakfast yogurt bars claiming to give you 4 hours of sustained energy. It had 36 carbs and 3 protein. What a joke where exactly would that energy come from with that nutrition. So I hear you. Read labels and educate yourself.

It might be an OK product for some uses (not ours in the weight loss world, though) or just marketing fluff. The energy comes from the carbohydrates, if they are of the right kind (not all carbs are bad, just as not all fats are bad - such morality plays are for fad dieters). There is more to nutrition than protein. A good pre-workout snack will often be fairly high in complex carbohydrates and moderate in protein (though the thing that you describe is a bit extreme on both counts). For my pre-workout snacks I usually used a small meat and cheese on whole grain sandwich which fits the appropriate nutritional profile, and I know what goes into it.
But generally, anything that comes out of a box is ripe for suspicion.
