A little lost on this forum - Site specific help sub-forum?

I have been on several forums over the years and thought I was relatively familiar with most of the platforms. However, I just cannot seem to figure out how this forum works.

I cannot figure out how to truncate quoted posts to make them easier to read.

When I go to notifications and click any of the new items, it always takes me to page with the title of the thread, but then says "No Replies Found"

I can't find my activity or post history...

I think you guys get the idea. Heck, I couldn't even find a sub-forum for site specific help. Is there one? Anyone able to point me in the general direction?

You cannot edit or truncate quote text.

Notifications are weird if you have your "posts per page" different from default. It tries to send you to a page based on the smallest option, bit if you're set to view more, you get an error.

Post history is limited to within specific sub forums. Hover over your avatar and select "latest posts."

"You cannot edit or truncate quote text."

Well that is just plain weird. I'll just have to find a workaround because I cannot stand having an entire Charles Dickens post quoted when I only want to comment on one sentence.

I usually copy and paste the text into the reply box, then preface it with >> and change the formatting.

>> This is a quote.

Seems to work well enough for folks to get the gist.

In addition, you can see the actual topics you post, but not the comments, if you go to your profile.

I definitely had a HUGE learning curve to get used to all of OH's quirks. And, like you, I thought I was pretty savvy with forums before. You'll get used to it but.. yeah.

I wanted to add -- while in any forum -- for example this one is the general one Weight Loss Surgery -- if you hover over the pic of anyone who has posted (including yourself) you will see a link entitled "latest posts" ---

If you click on that, it will show all the posts of that person in that forum. That has been my best work-around for finding postings, including my own...

Hope that helps somewhat.

Edited to add: for example, here's the link to your latest posts on this forum:

Also the little cog wheel in the upper right corner, hover over it and "My Posts" is one of the options.

On old posts from way back, I will go to Google. Type in Obesity Help Cabin111 and the topic I was talking about. Many times I will find the thread...

My biggest frustration is that the posts do not fall in the order that they are posted. It's too time consuming to read through an entire thread to find new replies. Makes me crazy.

ISO ... New "clique" members. You must be kind, warm, welcoming, honest, intelligent, and have a sense of humor. The words "shamed" or "victim" can not be in your regular vocabulary. Sarcasm is welcome (and wanted!), but cruelty is not. You must not be a coddler or a shamer. All members are free to classify themselves as vets, newbies, grasshoppers or anything else they desire.

I enjoy long walks on the beach, puppies, sunsets and taking off my bra as I pull in the driveway. If you are like minded, you are in!

And remember, we are ALL worthy of love, humor, and dignity.

I started a new group here for my old BP friends and any new friends who have a sense of humor. Link to join:
