Pet problem & possible solutions?
I've been thinking about the logistics of my recovery...yes, I'm over a year out... but I'm a planner. I have a darling beagle
(BB-8) & his 15lb kitty (Samantha) they both love to lay on me and cuddle, especially BB-8, who's about 30lb. I personally love this behavior, and don't want to train against it. However, I realize this is going to be a problem post-op.
I turned to my husband for help & he suggested a PVC/plywood contraption that would basically be a really elaborate TV tray for lack of a better illustration.
Anyone else have clever solutions?
Thanks!

I'd really like to hope that BB-8 & Sam will both behave & miraculously not try to climb all over me, but.... I have trust issues! These two have no concept of personal space.
I had Samantha when I had my bowel resection. Pillows were enough to deter her for the most part, but even then I had to push her off a few times. BB-8 is a total wild card. I have no idea how he's going to act when I'm down.

See, you get me! We both know why we have trust issues with our fur babies. I adore my BB-8, but he stands on me, with no regards for my comfort! I don't mind that presently- he's just gearing up to nose dive into my neck for cuddles- but he's a rough & tumble little boy. I'd love to think he's going to be awesome.... but what's that old saying? "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst"?

Unless you're expected to pick them up, I don't see a problem. I had an 11 month old son when I had my surgery and he climbed all over me lol.
I had little to no pain after surgery. No narcotic pain killers other than the day of surgery. I don't think I'm that unusual, it's just those of us who sail through rarely post about how easy it was.

I feel like our pets are pretty intuitive and empathic when it comes to their humans recovering. So they'll probably understand and be happy to be close to you but understand that you might not want ten ton paws of doom on your belly :)

Yes, I had two dogs, two cats and a clingy kid -- and it wasn't a problem. You will be sore but not made of china when you arrive home. I did keep a pillow on my lap -- mainly to press against me when laughing, sneezing, and getting up -- but really, I was pretty fine. I don't think you need that contraption. :-)
