Coffee and whacked out taste buds
My whole life I have been a coffee fiend. I loved coffee. I lived for coffee. Everyone in my life knew to stay away until I'd had my coffee. Then...dun dun dun...VSG surgery, and my taste buds went kaflooey!
Not for savory things, just sweet things, and I always used sugar (and then erythritol) in my coffee.
After surgery, nothing I regularly drank tasted good to me. It took 4 months to find a cold drink I like. And through this entire 6 months since surgery, I have tried probably 30 different kinds of coffee, trying desperately to find one that actually tasted good to me. I mean, I could drink the stuff, but I missed the days of taking that first drink and feeling "Ahhh, that tastes good!"
I FINALLY FOUND ONE! Believe it or not, it's coffee pods from Aldi! The Barissimo Donut Shop Blend Medium Roast. I couldn't believe the first taste and I thought "Wow, that tastes good!" Hallelujah...THE COFFEE FIEND IS BACK!! LOL
I had similar issues with cold drinks not tasting good. Funny enough for me, I only drank coffee as a "dessert" (Decaf Iced, Butter Pecan, two sugars and extra cream please!). Now I drink decaf coffee daily with Premier Protein and I love the bitter taste.

Mine isn't coffee. It is water, veggies and fruit. All of them taste very metallic to me. I have to put MIO in my water to get it down. I, too, am six months out and still can't drink plain water. My doctor said to just keep trying them but so far no luck.
Cathy, thanks for that recommendation: Aldi! The Barissimo Donut Shop Blend Medium Roast.
I love Aldi's, so will buy that and try it out next time I'm there.

I have tried the Aldi coffee...not sure if it was that one and agree it was very good. I usually go for french roast... I always try off brands because pods are expensive and sometimes you get a winner...
