NSV! Spur of the moment Easter 5k (first ever) and and PUPPIESSSSSSS
Hey everyone!
Back in around October I started the Couch to 5k (C25k) program and got just about done and stopped. Since then I've lost a ton more weight and would do a little running here and there at the gym, but nothing ever for distance. On Thursday I decided to run a mile, nonstop. I did it! Wasnt even too bad for the most part. So... OBVIOUSLY, I was ready for a 5k (ha...). I talked my wife into signing up for one on Saturday called the Flavor Run, which is basically a color run but the powders are fruit flavored. I had a blast! Took wife and I about 36.5 minutes to walk/run it. Was my first 5k EVER!!! Was super windy, but I was really enjoying pushing myself with mini goals (get to the next curve and then wal****il the big tree). We're signing up for another on June 3, thats a 5k with inflatable obstacle course things. Should be a blast!
Easter I made a sous vide reverse sear chateaubriand (prime sections of a beef tenderloin). Seared it, then put in bag with some brightened herbs, sous vide for 2 hours @ 131.5F, then took out and seared again. Then sliced up. Was so good! I definitely over enjoyed on some cookies, gained some weight.
AND LASTLY! I was super excited for our labradoodle Hazel to have Easter puppies, but she didnt start to birth them until this morning around midnight. She gave birth to 9 beautiful puppies -- 3 girls and 6 boys. Trying to talk my wife into keeping one :) Our dog is at the breeders house to birth and whelp them. She'll come back to us when the puppies are 8 weeks old. In the meantime can see her on the breeders webcam (http://www.labradoodlelane.com). Feel free to watch :)
Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend, too!

Congratulations on your 5K!
But, why did you send your dog away to have her puppies? Don't you think she's confused, and lonely, and misses her pack at home? This just got under my skin. I don't understand the thinking behind it. If you keep a puppy, I hope you get it fixed and don't send it away to be bred and give birth too...

I'm sure she misses us. I'm not a breeder, I have no idea how to breed, birth, whelp and raise puppies. When we bought our dog we bought whats called the guardian, which basically means she was selected to be bred by our breeder. She assumes all costs to breed, and once is done we either get a puppy at no cost or our money back for the dog. Its the way a lot of breeders work. After the puppies are old enough she comes home with us for good and will be spayed.
Also, just in case anyone is against the whole buying dogs and throws the "adopt dont shop" thing out, I am in complete agreement. Unless your allergic to dogs, which I am, and which is why we have a labradoodle with a known pedigree so that we wouldnt adopt and then give back to the shelter.

Also, our dog was with us until last Friday when we took her to the breeders. She'll only be there until the puppies are old enough to go home. She goes a week before shes due to get comfortable where she is, with the breeder, etc. We've been kept up to date on her with lots of info/pictures/videos throughout every day. She for sure misses us, but she has absolutely loved the increased freedom that the breeders house offers (they have a big plot of land fenced in and she just goes and walks around, naps, etc.). We cant have any kind of fence in my neighborhood (golf club community and HOA).

Can you go and see her and love on her?
I'm pretty closely affiliated with a Boxer dog rescue here, and I just know how sad and confused those dogs are when their owners bring them and leave... so my heart hurts for her because I know she's confused and misses her people (and probably like WTF, I have babies now!!!)
The pups are adorable, and I'm sure the breeder is taking care of your dog in the physical sense, I just hate seeing someone make money with breeding someone else's dog so they can get more money... and more promises of breeding *****es down the road. Seems slightly unethical to me and more about the unholy dollar.

Absolutely we can! As often as we want. Well, once the puppies are two weeks old we can :)
It might be. Thats not for me to decide and what not. It made sense for my family to do this and in the end get our dog at no cost :)

Thanks :) She's a super sweet girl, we have her and a dane (my wife really wanted, so I get allergy shots now to be able to have her too, in fact am about to go get mine for the month!). The doodle is for sure my dog, so I miss her right now.
Wife did a little "maternity" session with her before she left, and the 2nd pic is from maybe 4 weeks into her pregnancy at most
