From everything I've read on the forums over the years I've been here, it definitely sounds like RNY is the right choice for you given your medical history!

I had VSG because I have auto immune disease and needed to be able to take NSAIDs and steroids if needed. I have had slight GERD in the past, so there was a slight concern about that, but it was always easily managed with meds and likely caused by being overweight. I have to be on PPIs anyway because of my meds for the auto immune, and have had no reflux issues post-op.

VSG is not the only option with auto immune, several people here have shared they had RNY and have had excellent results, VSG is just the one I and my medical team decided on. Every patient is different. :)
