Can a person just go have their blood test done to get a lab report or do you have to go through a doctor?

You have to have a referral by a Dr but... you can get a referral online too... I used a service like that before I had insurance http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2014/03/post- weight-loss-surgery-lab-work.html People use them if you want a second opinion or more frequently done than your insurance allows... they are self pay though... where your Dr referral would be covered by insurance (generally, within reason/annually)

In some places, you are allowed to order blood tests without a doctor's order. Here in Arizona, we have a law that allows for "direct to consumer" testing, so you can get lots of tests on your own. However, I don't know if insurance covers self-requested lab work.

I'm not sure about other areas, but LabCorp announced a while back that they were going to open self-request testing in many states.
