Day 1 of my 21 day exercise plan
OK... I am 5 months post surgery and other than walking 2-3 miles a few times a week I haven't been exercising.
I went to see the PT yesterday. Two months ago my weight loss ratio was 0.8 lbs of fat: 1.0 lbs muscle. Not ideal but not bad. Now I am losing 1.0 lbs of muscle : 0.5 lbs of fat . Very bad.
So... I am trying to commit to exercise with short term goals. Hopefully seeing improvement how I look will encourage more exercise. I know that seeing myself in the mirror (with my cloths on) definitely keeps me on track food wise.
Today was day one of my three week plan. I walked five miles. Tomorrow I will go to my first cross fitness class.
I have an appointment to get rechecked by PT in 24 days.
Yay exercise! It's awesome for overall health - not so awesome for weight loss though.
One of the things that helped me, and that I really recommend, is to give everything the "four attempt" rule. I realized quickly that the first 2-3 tries at something are horrible. You feel stupid, uncoordinated, ungainly, and like everyone is judging you. I find that this normally subsides around the 4th attempt, so I forced myself to give every new thing 4 tries before giving up on it.

That sounds like a plan my husband tried to talk me into once.

Haha. I did my 4 class rule for Zumba too and ended up enjoying it quite a bit.
The "Pound" class I tried, however? Nope. My back hurt SO MUCH after the first one that I never went back.

All my uppity "ladies who lunch" friends take Zumba out here.
Tried it three times -- basically I determined that I'd rather use a chainsaw to insert contact lenses than suffer through another one of those classes. The only class that I found to be worse than than Zumba was Hot Yoga.
Hot Yoga is for the same people who consider kale a viable substitute for potato chips. I mean, I don't hate kale, but they sure are not chips. Hot Yoga was one of Dante's forgotten levels of hell.
