The elephant in the room - Mama June's Reveal
I don'****ch the show, but keep catching the "updates" on my "news" feeds. I wondered why they allowed her to rush into plastics so early in the process, I shouldn't have wondered, I guess.
I also thought about how much she'd actually changed her approach to food, given that interviews with the daughter don't show any real change in her daughter's physique. If they'd really cleaned up the food in the house, and made activity a central part of life there, the daughter would be showing SOME signs of it, I would think, as well as the niece (?) if she lives with them.
I worry about the effect on the public's attitude toward WLS when so much focus is put on the rapid loss by a "celebrity" and not enough attention is paid to the process and getting it right. I think about Oprah and all her weight loss efforts, and Carnie Wilson and the singer from Heart and all of the others who are on the cover of magazines with their weightloss, but then they get shoved aside when they regain and the impression everyone gets is that nothing works.

Totally agree.
I've never watched this show (or her old show) I had to do some research. Evidently she had her WLS (VSG) in March 2016. Evidently after losing just 90 pounds she was ready to have plastic surgery but the surgeon actually told her no and to come back after she'd lost another 80 pounds. Obviously the surgeon missed the part where you should be at your goal weight for at least a year (if not longer). What a joke.
If she continues to eat the way everyone is describing how she eats, I see her gaining all her weight back in 1 to 2 years (if less).
IMHO she gives WLS a bad name.

Let's hope she doesn't put the weight back on but OMG, can you imagine the stress and pressure if she does? She won't come out of the house! I don't think I could handle it. It was bad enough when I had regain during a very stressful, grieving time. We shall see

I saw her interviewed this morning on GMA and she said that she thought the vsg was a quick fix at first, but then she realized that she had to really work at it. She also said that her insurance paid for the sleeve and she had to pay for the plastics. Her daughter said that the fridge is stocked with healthy food and just sometimes she comes home with something not healthy for them.
We all know it isn't the easy way out and I hope she does well with keeping the weight off. Whatever her reasons were, maybe, just maybe she can become a role model in the battle of losing and keeping excess weight off for her kids.
I saw an interview with her last night I didn't realize she's legally blind from cataracts. She's scared to have the surgery to clear her vision. o.O
