My clothing dilemma

My mom has been tailoring some of my bigger clothes for me as I shrink and since she herself is losing weight (without surgery), once I hit the size 14 and 16, I'll be able to take over some of her clothes. My work is fairly casual (I work at a library and I do a lot of physical stuff), so I've considered wearing loose yoga pants (which my boss has told me is fine) but even for me that feels too casual. I will never be someone who wears leggings as pants, at least in public or when I'm not exercising, so while they fit better, they are still leggings.

For the love of all things-- get the 20! White dove said it best-- being in I'll fitting clothes is demoralizing.

In the fast losing stage I bought mainly from thrift stores, but if I had to buy in a regular store I wouldn't spend more than $20 on an item. I got lots of use out of everything.

I still have some 1x shirts, they make for good around the house clothes.

Only if I would find one for a $1 or $2 at most.

Buy a belt. They have them made of "stretchable" material.

Or buy one of those https://www.amazon.com/Hollywood

Really useful for long time. When you are in between sizes.

I agree with the others. I cleaned out my closet a couple of weeks ago and listed all the good stuff on a local buy and sell. I've made over $100 selling all that. I've picked up a few things at thrift stores and also watched the sales at Old Navy. Last week they had jeans on sale for 50% off and then 40% off that price. The funny thing is that I bought a pair of jeans at a thrift store for $9 and got the same pair in a different colour brand new for $13. I've also been able to get great deals on some dress pants and skirts that way. I'd say new dresses and new pants are in order. If your pants are too big, so are the dresses. And it feels so good to look good. You've worked hard to get where you're at.

II agree with peach and white dove. I always, always wear clothes that fit. It's important mentally. I don't need a giant wardrobe, but I need enough pieces that I can mix and match and look put together at every size. I don't have luck in second hand stores, but I do at department clearance sales (not pants though,I'm usually stuck paying full pop for the right fit)

Also, make sure your bras fit properly too hahha that's another area I refuse to skimp on!

I have invested in bras all the way down as I lost weight... I only bought 2 (1 black, 1 nude) at a time, but I changed them out every few months (40-50lbs)... when the bra doesn't fit right, the girls look really haggered!

Ditto. Well fitting foundational garments are so important. I even started going to a real lingerie store for fittings (a local place, not like a Victoria's Secret). I only buy 2 at a time and they last for a while, thank goodness!

I switched to wrap skirts since jeans were too obnoxious. It was too challenging to keep up on them and way too challenging to find ones that fit well. I invested in skirts and have been wearing the same ones for the last 100 pounds of loss or so. They're wrap skirts, so they're adjustable to pretty much any size, and I don't have to worry about getting pants that fit my hips, waist, and thighs all at the same time. Since that's apparently pretty much impossible :P

My vote? SKIRTS. :)
