For those who have been through weight loss surgery, what is the one NSV that has meant the most to you?

Sherri surgery scheduled 11/20/17!

"An incredibly SMART, AMAZING, HANDSOME, SILLY KID with AUTISM ROCKS my entire WORLD." I asked my son once what he would tell people to help them know more about Autism. He said, "I would want them to know that even Albert Einstein had autism."

It's hard to pick just one but I guess the best has been going on a short vacation a few weeks ago as a normal thin person for the first time in my life and while on the trip not feeling like I was watching from the sidelines and not worrying once if I'd fit in a seat on a ride or make it up another flight of stairs.

Lost 161 lbs since surgery, LOST 221 lbs overall so far!!

It'd be any that involve my husband. Me being smaller than him was one of my goals. Being able to take/wear his coat if I'm cold, him being able to pick me up.

For me it was getting off of diabetes medications. A close 2nd though is knowing that I could fit the seat on any rollercoaster that I wanted to go on. What fun!

I've weathered my dad's death pretty well (at least I feel that I am). I never would have been able to do this before I got my mental house in order.

No more diabetes has been awesome, for sure. But my favorite one so far has been being able to go shopping with my sisters and actually participate! November 2015 we went on a sister's weekend, and I couldn't walk with them around the malls because I got short of breath. If we went somewhere that had mobile carts, I'd use them, but otherwise, I let them go and just sat in the car.

A month ago the 3 of us and one BIL went to dinner and then we all went shopping for a couple of hours. I never got a bit winded, and we had so much fun! I'm not sure anything will be able to top that one!

Mine is backwards, from T's...my roller coaster ride, with my then 10 year old son, comes in first, and getting off 4 x day insulin comes in second.

My boys were 10 and 12, back when I had surgery, and though I was very involved in all their activities, I always made up excuses not to ride amusement park rides, not wanting to have to explain to them that my fat self just wasn't going to fit. On that first post op ride...The Titan, at Six Flags over Texas...Chris and I rode it 6 times, in a row...He is 25 now, and tells me it is still one of his BEST childhood memories :)

For me its not one thing but lots of little things that mean the most

being able to set at a booth in a restaurant

going on a rollercoster ride

getting down on the floor and plying with me grandkids

being able to tie my shoes without loosing my breath

So far, just being able to run around in the back yard with my 5yr old and 3yr old great nieces last thanksgiving. Sounds like such a simple thing but a year earlier, I could barely walk and had constant back and knee pain.

Second is getting off both high blood pressure meds.
