Make ahead lunches

Hi guys, I'm new here and this is the first time I've posted :-)

I have my first ever appointment with the WLS on 13th May, but in the meantime, I am starting to prepare myself mentally and physically for WLS and life as a 'Bariatric person' for the rest of my life.

One thing I am struggling to find information about is lunch! I would really like to be able to pre- make lunches for as many days ahead as I can.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Good websites etc? I'd really appreciate you letting me know.

Buy and instant pot...seriously!

I have the DS. I can literally eat anything-but I LOVE food that is cooked under pressure. I make chicken and rice for lunch about 3 out of 5 days a week, hard boiled eggs, and lots of soups.

Hi,

Good for you for getting a jump start on everything. It will help you in the long run. For lunch I usually take a yogurt and a cheddar cheese stick, sometimes I add 1/2 cup blueberries to the yogurt. Sometimes I will take a hard boiled egg, cut it up with a little salt and pepper and the cheese stick. This will get you closer to your protein goal as well. Another go to for me is shrimp ****tail and sauce for dipping. I buy the frozen two pound bags of jumbo shrimp and leave them in the freezer. In the morning I pull out 4 shrimp and put them in a container lined with a paper towel to absorb the moisture. They sit on my desk till lunch at which time they have thawed. Very high in protein.

Best of luck to you on your journey.

Welcome!

Lunches for me depend on where I am - right now I'm a student so end up eating lunch in my car a few times a week. Not ideal, but it is what it is. For those meals I tend to cut up lunch meat and cheese the night before and eat that for lunch. It works super well.

If I'm home for lunch, I'll just heat up leftovers from a previous night's dinner.

Check out The World According to Eggface website. She has dozens of ideas for lunches, especially with her bento box lunches. Good high protein, low carb lunch ideas.

Good for you for thinking & planning ahead... I think that is one of the most important things post WLS having a plan. I don't do several days ahead (cause I enjoy the act of cooking mostly) but I usually know at least the next day and the day after what I am going to be eating... there is something to be said for the psychologically sort of boundaries it puts on you when you know what you are supposed to eat that day and also when/if you step away from the plan for the day... and when you plan your day you can balance it a bit better (if breakfast is a little carby, plan lunch less, etc.) without the immediate pressure of hunger or the waitress saying "what'll it be?"

Anyway... I just did a bento lunch post this morning so it's the second post down (link in signature below) hope you get a few ideas :)

My go to lunch is 2oz of meat cubes, 1 oz of cheese cubes and 1oz of nuts. They sell these pre made for about $2.00 each. You can make three of them, with better a quality stuff, for about the same cost.

I look at the pre-made ones and they just don't look appetizing to me...
