I want to get weight loss surgery so bad but because I am home bound I am unable to get to the required seminars that Temple require you to attend. I have very bad knees an I unable to go down steps. I am a patient of visiting physicians and my cardiac doctor told me I would be a good candidate for weight loss surgery. How do I get the approved transportation? No one wants to help you.

Thank you,

Ann

Does your city have something like Dial-A-Ride to get you there? If not, a friend, family member or church congregant willing to help? Being a hospital, they will have wheelchairs you can use to get to the seminar room.

Temple in Philadelphia? (I assume that means you live in Philly?) Is the problem with steps in your home? Or steps elsewhere?

1) Call Temple and ask. Refer to https://ambler.temple.edu/about/news/dr-nicholas-klein-chall enging-transportation-inequality. Call their marketing and public relations department. Call their disability services department. Basically, call everyone you can.

2) How old are you? If you're a senior, Philly has transportation options -- http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html/philadelphia_assista nce_progra.html If you're not, you might still consider calling and asking, because they might be able to point you in the right direction.

3) The counties around Philadelphia have transportation for people with disabilities - Delaware County and Chester County to name two. You could contact those services and see if they can point you in the right direction for Philadelphia County.

4) This link has some great information that might help you -- http://matp.pa.gov

5) Ditto -- http://philadelphia.pa.networkofcare.org/ps/services/subcate gory.aspx?tax=BT-4500.6500-500

6) This is geared for seniors, but might get you going in the right direction -- http://www.pcacares.org/services-for-seniors/transportation/

The temple reference made me think Philly too.

SEPTA has a paratrasit service for disabled folks. I don't understand how she has visiting doctors- eventually she needs lab work or tests that can't be done at her home.

Also the city has many great hospitals and WLS programs- if Temple's isn't doable- check into other requirements.

And they have really good pretzels. Glad those aren't here.

Really good, but super high carb pretzels. When I used to commute via train I'd often have their 2 pretzels and a soda deal as a 'snack'. The carb count of the upwards of 250 grams!!

Fortunately I don't "like" pretzels so I only had a bite. They are really good in Philly.
