This little trick works for me! Try it you may like it!
This made me think about my shopping habits and how they have changed. I simply circle the store now. I don't buy anything that comes in a box or the freezer section so I have no need to be in the middle of the store. Meats, dairy, veggies and spices are all I buy.
I still buy frozen veggies for convenience, but I'm totally there with you on the "middle of the store."
I went tonight to buy some staples (peppers, cucumbers, cottage cheese, sugar-free popsicles) and my spouse went to grab something from the pharmacy. I walked into the frozen section and past all the ice cream and I felt... nothing. It's like it doesn't even register as food anymore. No compulsions to buy, no Pavlovian response, it's just... nothing.

I probably would be a salivating dog if I walked past mint ice cream! I've tried a little bit of my wife's blizzard from dairy queen and the first time I had a huge sugar crash. I've tried just a few spoonfuls a few times since with no ill effects. I'm perfectly happy with my little "samples". I log them like everything else.
You have this to look forward to compliments of EggFace.
Mint Chocolate Chip
This is what you make when those little Girl Scouts come a-calling with their evil Thin Mints.
Shelly's Mint Chocolate Chip Protein Ice Cream
1 cup Vanilla Soy Milk (or Regular Milk)
2 scoops Vanilla Protein Powder
1/8 teaspoon Peppermint Extract (careful a little goes a long way)
optional: 1/8 teaspoon Green Food Coloring
2 - 3 Sugar Free Andes or Peppermint Patties, chopped (30 cals a piece)
Mix together milk, protein, extract and optional food coloring. I used this gadget to mix it up. It makes it airy and lump free. Pour into ice cream maker. Follow your machine's instructions for freezing. 5 minutes before done add the chopped SF Andes. You can eat it right away it is soft serve-ish but I like to put it in the freezer to set for an hour or so. You can make this without the green food coloring but I grew up on the fake green one and green is my favorite color.

Cool. I will visualize yarn, lots of it, in my shopping cart!
I also find it helpful to give the bakery section the finger as I cruise on by.
