3 week count down. Post surgery protein drink question...
In a week from tonight (I work graveyard) I will be starting my 2 week Premier protein drinks - 1000 calorie diet. I have narrowed it down to strawberry and chocolate and am "practicing" now.
My Nut (I hope this mean nutritionist) says I will have to go on Boost after the surgery and not Premier because it has more of the nutrients I will need. Plus, they sell it at the dr office (aha!). If they insist on Boost, Boost it is but I prefer the taste of Premier.
Has anyone successfully used Premier Protein Shakes post surgery?
Thanks!
Beth

My surgeons office provides a list of acceptable protein drinks. Premier Protein (30g/11 oz) is on it, but Boost (15g/8 oz for the high protein version) is not. Most drinks recommended (and which you'll find recommended here) were closer to the stats for Premier Protein.

There is no medical reason you need Boost. You can take vitamins just fine, and use the Premier. Or one of a thousand other great protein drinks out there. Boost actually has less protein than most of them.
Boost was not designed with our particular cohort in mind.
Keep in mind that something that tastes good now may not after surgery. Some people taste things very differently for the first few months post.

I used Premier pre and post op and still use the premixed ones on occasion. My favorite is the caramel, but they are hard to find. My team didn't care what brand or whether I used powder mixed with water or pre-mixed, but wanted me to get 60-90g protein a day.
Keep on losing!
