What food does your sleeve/pouch gripe about?

I eat all kinds of sausage, but the chicken is the only one that gives me problems (chicken breast, thigh and jerky are fine!). I eat pork sausage nearly every morning for breakfast (less than 1oz patty) and that's no issue either!

I have a love/hate with eggs. I can't eat the yellow - only the white. I can get the yellow if it's all mixed in like a scrambled or egg salad...but fried, poached, boiled? only the whites.

I am about 5 months post WLS and still can't eat many raw vegetables. I have barfed every time I eat lettuce or raw spinach.

We have the first snow peas and asparagus of the year in our garden so far I do better when they are cooked.

I'm 6 months post surgery and boy has my stomach changed in terms of what I can eat! I introduce new things slowly so I can figure out what works and what doesn't. I'm especially heartened to hear that over time people have found they can tolerate things again, I live in hope

So here's my list of no go's.

  • Baked salmon (but I can have smoked salmon, weird huh)
  • Lactose milk (I just have lactose free)
  • Feta
  • Haloumi
  • Tomato (in any form)
  • Pineapple
  • Tzatziki sauce
  • Too much sugar (I can have like 3 dark choc squares max)
  • Onion or garlic

If I'm trying something new I do it at home, where I can make a quick escape.

I'm lucky I can eat most veges, meat, protein, cheese, yoghurt, grains, nuts, avocado and I'm enjoying them.

The one food I'm not brave enough to try is peanut butter... my kryptonite! We don't have it in the house anymore and it's for the best lol.

Four months post op RNY here. My pouch, not too finicky. I can eat a fried/over easy/over medium egg, but scrambled eggs give me fits. I cannot eat a hard boiled egg unless it is pureed into a tuna/chicken type salad. I've had trouble with skirt steak, but can eat a ribeye, t-bone, NY strip, sirloin. I do fine with fruits and veggies for the most part. Had a little trouble with Brussels Sprouts, but I love them so much, I am willing to try again.

Juice makes me feel nauseated. I can't eat apples or cucumbers with peel on. I can eat them just fine without the peel but I tried each at separate times and threw up after having a lot of uncomfortable pain for an hour or so. Other than that I can eat pretty much anything.

  1. I'm about 6 weeks out. I have issues with:
  2. Ground beef
  3. Protein pancakes (made with bananas)
  4. Yogurt with Chia seeds
  5. Some left overs

Many of my issues (throwing up, stomach rebeling and generally telling me NO) have been from not chewing well enough, trying to fit too many things in too fast (morning pills, breakfast, coffee, etc).

I also just realized that when I am eating something I don't like the taste of, I tend to reach for a drink to "wa**** down". I never noticed it before...guess that all started when I was a kid. Funny how weird quirks show up.

Most fruit has great (except for bannanas), Solid meats (not ground) have been much easier on my tummy, undercooked beans are never good.

I'm slowly finding my way and posts like this help so much! I can't thank everyone enough for posting and giving feedback.
