Question for the vets re: bread
I know most if not all are against eating bread. However, I found this protien bread which I keep frozen until I use it because it is 4.00 a loaf and a loaf is 6 slices and they are thin like weigh****chers bread. However I love it! Makes an amazing roast beef sandwhich. Of course because of the price it is not like I will be having a sandwich every day. But do you think once a week would be ok to have two slices of this bread. I have put a pic of the bread and the nutritional values below. I await your response.

I never touched anything like that until long after I passed my final goal. For me, there just wasn't enough nutrition in something like that.

Hi Grim, were you at TWH this evening?

I should also add I am pre-op. I am trying to get use to the new lifestyle and start eating what I should be eating post op.

For the first few months, you can est very little. Safely at least. You just won't have the room for something like this. Every bite needs to be the best nutrition you can get.
For most people, "expandable" food sits like a rock. Stuff like bread and rice. It looks small, but add some water and it swells up, and you feel like you want to die. Picture putting too much TP in a toilet and flushing. Blocks it right up. But there's no way to use a plunger on yourself.

Right now you want bread, but post op you won't for a good long time. The idea of 2 slices of bread seems like a HUGE meal to me. I'd say that for 11g of protein, 130 calories it isn't a great ratio. You want dense low calorie protein.
Lunch for me today: 2oz of steamed shrimp (I will work up to 3-4oz as the months go on). 68 calories and 13g of protein. Dinner for me: 2oz of scallops and similar stats for calories and protein.
I eat Light Greek Yogurt for breakfast and a string cheese, that gives me 19g. I snack on jerky, string cheese, laughing cow cheese, babybel cheese (haha, CHEESE!) and occasionally edamame if I want something different.

Some people do fine with something like that, others not so much. I would wait until after you reach goal to eat any kind of bread and then only occasionally. I do eat bread but it is not a trigger for me.
I would not choose a bread for the protein content, especially if it is expensive. Personally I like Joseph's Bakery- Flax, Oat Bran & Whete Pita bread or low carb tortillas for low carb options. Or even just regular Pepperidge Farms thin sliced bread if I really want bread (45 calories a slice).

I personally waited until I was 80% to goal to incorporate any carbs in the form of whole grain breads, rice and crackers in preparation for maintenance. I didn't want anything slowing my weight loss down, and like said above, I only had so much room each meal and most of that was protein and a bite or two of veg.
I maintain fine eating whole grains occasionally as part of a well balanced diet, but ironically when I'm up a few pounds like I am now, it's the first thing I cut out again to get the weight back off.
