Do you think I will be okay to go to Disney 3 months after RNY ?

Thats how I was after my 3 c-sections. I always did more than the doctors said I should. I once went to work, I had to do inventory of my whole store an hour after I fell and broke my tailbone and fractured a rib. I just know this is a different kind of surgery. But I think I can do it because I know how tough I am. I like that mentality that you stopped being a patient the day you left the hospital. Oh and yes you need good footwear.

FYI....RNY pain has nothing on c-section pain! You've got this, girl. You'll do great. I'm a week shy of four months out, and I would have jumped at the chance to go to WDW two months ago!!!!

Good question. I can't speak to RNY since I had a VSG, but at three months out I'd be more concerned about the long car ride than the walking. Once you're there I would imagine it will be fine (unless you have specific issues above and beyond recovering from wls that might make that much walking less fine?) I was walking around a LOT and feeling pretty great probably less than three months after my surgery. And if you're worried about vacation food being a temptation, honestly you're probably "safer" three months out than a year or two out when the honeymoon phase is waning. It was far, far easier for me to eschew "bad" food and limit myself to water/protein/bariatric-friendly food three months after surgery than a year or more.

Just my two cents, but I think if you can find a way to either shorten the getting-there part of the trip (flying?) or make sure you don't spend more than an hour or two in the car without a break to stretch your legs, you'll probably be fine. Just be hyper vigilant about planning your water/protein/meals ahead of time. (And I suspect there is SO much information available for Disney travelers--Disney must publish menus etc on the web, I'd think, and there are probably a million "visiting Disney parks under XYZ cir****tances" that are full of applicable tips. So if you do your research, I'm sure you could find out if there are some in-park options for "safe" foods etc.)

Go and have fun!

Oh you know what, I wasn't even thinking about rides--just sitting in the car and walking around once you're there. At three months, I think it would be prudent to avoid most rides, or at least the herkiest-jerkiest. You're definitely more familiar with Disney than I am so you probably know some that would be safe, but at three months I'd err on the side of caution when it comes to rides.

I did universal studios 2 months post op. At 3 months post op rides should be fine. I hate coasters, but did the whitewater rafting ride with my kid 10 times in a row.

I crushed my steps (more than 18k/ day) was fine. By then was feeling normal, went to Walmart when we arrived. Stocked up on Bari friendly snacks. Brought premier protein with me. Was fine. We drove there from Canada.

btw, the food at universal was amazing. I found Disney to be terrible, all fried, can't find a fruit not covered in chocolate or caramel. So unless you have real restaurant reservations be prepared to bring healthy food in.

I am very worried about the food, I love Disney food, we usually plan our vacation around it, I'm going to hate paying for the buffets for me when I cant eat anything. But my husbands said he's not going to deprive everyone because I decided to do this to myself. I'm going to pack a bunch of protein drinks and fruit with me. For some reason I can never get fruit in Florida which I find so odd. I bought an orange last year at a stand in Disney near space mountain and it was like a rock on the inside. They sell those Odwalla juices I know that, I should look into the nutritional value in them.

I'm starting a liquid 2x a day diet tomorrow to see if I can jump start this thing. As for the rides I know a few I should skip like primeval whirl but some are my favorite like rock n roller coaster, tower of terror. I'll try to avoid anything too strenuous, Popeye ride is great at universal, I hope I can fit in Dudley Doright last time I was so soaked I got stuck couldn't get my lower half out of the ride I was so embarrassed. A lot of the rides at universal aren't fat people friendly.

Get a small lunch bag sized cooler. Bring almonds, cashews babybel cheese, hard boiled eggs , berries etc etc. Lots of parks allow you to rent lockers if you don't want to tote it around. I would avoid any juices because they are high in sugar. You do not want to risk dumping...trust me on that. Definitely don't count on fruit or veggies at Disney. Buffets might actually work because you can pick and choose what you want (if they have a salad bar.)

Driving was fine as well, change positions frequently. Move your legs and do frequent stops to walk...use the restroom etc. It took us a couple of days to get there.

We are definitely stopping a lot I used to have a 35 gallon tank F150 and only stopped 2 times but we traded it in for a explorer a few months ago and didn't even think about long distance travel until after I bought it. This thing eats gas like crazy so I will be getting out and walking every few hours. I don't drive since my beloved hubby doesn't trust my driving skills. So I'll try to move as much as possible.

Thankfully the menus are online so you can plan ahead. Also, sharing meals is helpful. Kids meals at quick service sometimes work. Hopefully you will be in the "eat to stay alive" stage and all that Disney food you used to love won't even be a consideration.
