I had early dumping about two weeks after surgery or so because I dumped on a protein shake. I felt nausea, my heart rate sped up and I had to vomit in the end.

Was the shake high in sugar?

No, I had it several times after that and never had this problem again.

It's not dumping, but it does sound like you ate too fast and/or something is stuck. Hope you feel better soon.

Dumping is caused by sugars/simple carbs being rapidly dumped into our bloodstreams-hence the term dumping.

I was 6 months out, and I had three tiny bites of apple pie on Thanksgiving. Big mistake.

I felt flushed, sweaty, nauseated, my heart was racing, and just felt generally bad. It only lasted about 20 minutes, so I don't think it was a full on dumping episode, but it was close enough to make me never want to feel like that again. Most sugar alcohols give me similar symptoms plus cramping. SO fun. So beware ( most ) sugar free candy.

I am three years out and I have never dumped. I have never tested it, either.

RYN's DO dump, I am over 9 years out and still dump, I don't remember my first time but it was pretty early after surgery and it even happened with approved foods by my nutritionist

with the years I have learned to stay away from most dairy, all sugars and fried foods not even a bite, none unless I want to spend my time sweating and shaking

My only time was about 1 week post op. It was 2% milk (had 2 gallons, didn't realize one was 1% and the other 2%). Grab the 2% by mistake and get it almost instantly. Flush, heart racing, tummy rumbling and contacting, just miserable.

5 months post op and this was the only time.
