Wow! I just logged on to ask a similar question! Now that your question has been answered, T, I hope you won't mind if I piggyback mine. :)

I'm only 3 weeks out from VSG, feeling great, but missing some details. I thought it might be easier to get an unofficial answer here than calling my nutritionist on a Friday afternoon ;).

He advised a minimum of 60-70 g protein and a goal of 20 g fiber. I can't find any notes about calories! Help!!

Unlike some, I do feel hunger and it seems like I takes a lot to make me feel full. I'm 5'7", currently 235.

THANK YOU!!!

I eat about 750 to 800 (900 at most) cals a day. My Surgeon suggests 1500 to 1600 but I will not do that.

Thanks, gang!

I got a bit lost when I switched from liquids/purees to soft foods. I kinda rushed it, and it was also my first week back at work.

I'm going to slow down, do some serious menu planning, and try for 800-900 calories per day. I really want to take advantage of this "honeymoon period," but I am still hungry! I hope I will feel more full once I move toward more solid foods.

Thanks again, and HAPPY FRIDAY!

The number of calories needed to maintain varies greatly from person to person. It can be as little as 900 to as high as 3000 a day. Most people seem to average around 1400-1600 calores a day to maintain their weight. How many calories are you eating now?

For me, I eat around 2000 calories a day to maintain at 140 pounds at 8 years out. If I need to lose, I cut back to 1500 calories a day.
