How many Calories a day?

Hey everyone! I am almost 9 months gastric bypass post op. I have 2 more lbs. to reach my goal of 140 but I have only lost a pound in like two months. Is this it for me?????

I was wondering about how many calories everyone else is consuming in a day that is this far out?

Also, I love Chocolate Premier Protein shakes and they are out at Sam's right now but have the Chocolate Premier Whey Protein Powder, has anyone tired that and does it taste pretty much the same? I know it has a few more calories than the shake, it won't make me gain will it? Thanks!

A rough estimate of maintenance calories is multiply goal by 10. You need at least 1400 to stay at 1400 and 1420 to maintain 142. You stop losing when you take in more calories than you burn.

I would suggest cutting to 900 a day and you should lose a pound a week. I also would lose to 10, 20 or even 30 pounds below that goal weight, because bounce back happens and it is smart to have a cushion for that. I continued to lose for 18 months after my RNY. My bounce back started at 30 months out.

Hi. I am just shy of 7 months post sleeve and my daily calories are right around 1200.

My surgeon wants me at 1200-1400, focus of course on protein with limited carbs.

Still losing - I actually lose better when I am higher in the range than lower -

I'm VSG, not RnY, so there's that. But here's my info in case you find it useful.

I'm 2 years 8 months post-op. I hit my original weight goal at 150 pounds. At that point I started eating an average of 1750 calories. And during the next 9 months I lost another 15 pounds.

So 135 pounds is where I've been sitting ever since. And I'm still averaging 1750 calories/day. I have always tracked using My Fitness Pal and measure really well, so I have great confidence that I know how much I'm eating.

FYI, I'm 5'5", 71 years old. I'm "moderately active" (I do yoga twice a week and aquarobics and/or walk 3 days a week), but am certainly not a gym rat or a marathon runner.

Also, I eat more carbs than most people do -- usually 150 - 200 carbs/day (that's a lot of colored veggies, fruits, and whole grains). My protein grams average around 85/day.

Wow! I just logged on to ask a similar question! Now that your question has been answered, T, I hope you won't mind if I piggyback mine. :)

I'm only 3 weeks out from VSG, feeling great, but missing some details. I thought it might be easier to get an unofficial answer here than calling my nutritionist on a Friday afternoon ;).

He advised a minimum of 60-70 g protein and a goal of 20 g fiber. I can't find any notes about calories! Help!!

Unlike some, I do feel hunger and it seems like I takes a lot to make me feel full. I'm 5'7", currently 235.

Hi!

I'm still waiting for my surgery, but I have all my training materials here at my desk so I checked back and at my nutrition class they didn't give us a calorie number - they just wanted us to be Protein forward, to get all of our protein in first and to get the water in each day.

I'm going to have the RNY so mine is a little different than yours, I understand that the biggest difference is that with the VSG you need to avoid "snacking" between meals, where with the RNY you need to eat something every two hours. I hope that helps?

There is really no difference between an RNY and VSC eating plan. None. Especially during the first two years postop.

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

I eat under 600 calories per day. I really only look at the protein, water, and carbs though. I make sure I hit 60g of protein, 64 oz of water, and under 20g of carbs. I was at 450 calories at 3 weeks out and my NUT said to up my calories. So I did.
