Coffee?
Sadness. I'm one of the ones who switched to decaf...
I had a full caffeine drink from startbucks by accident once, and it took me a long time to figure out why I just had SO many stories to tell my husband on our drive hahaha. I was wired. I loved it. I miss it.
Rip coffee buzz...

I still have my coffee, but no beverages taste the same to me after surgery. Food seems to be fine, it's just weird. I keep searching for a coffee that makes me go "Ahhhh" like it used to on that first sip. I've found some that are fine, but I'm still searching for that lovely feeling it used to give me. I hope my taste buds get back to normal someday (sighs).

I was searching for the "ahhhh" moment for awhile myself. For me I realized that I was getting that from the sugar I was adding to the coffee not the coffee itself. lol

I used to use sugar but long before surgery I switched to erythritol when I was diagnosed with diabetes. It still gave me the "ahhhh" but no longer. It took me months to find a beverage of any kind that tasted good to me after surgery. I drink water, but I used to drink Crystal Light or other SF drink mixes all the time. Now I can't tolerate any of them. The only thing I found that tastes GOOD to me is Diet Lipton Green Tea with Citrus...thank goodness for that, anyway! I keep seeing people say that their taste buds went back to normal eventually, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed lol

I switched to decaf pre surgery and I've only attempted one caffeinated coffee post op but I do drink a ton of decaf now. Right now I'm preferring the warm liquid over cold and I've been making 4 20oz cups a day. I was using sugar free creamer but now I'm adding premier and/or SF creamer throughout the day. I discovered some vanilla hazelnut decaf yesterday and I'll be returning to the store today to stock up, it's yum.

I've become a coffee freak! And I only drink decaf (and have since I was 19), and it makes it so hard! I've found a grocery store in town that has several darker roasted decaf beans. I buy them 3-4 bags at a time!!!
I literally count the minutes after dinner when I can make my yummy latte every night!!!
The stronger the better too nowadays... sometimes I think it's even thicker because I like it so strong now! What's up with that?!

Pammieanne, I definitely like my coffee stronger these days, too. I've even shifted our morning coffee brew from all coffee grind to 1/4 espresso coffee (ground very fine) and 3/4 coffee grind.

I thought I was the only one!!! I love, love, love my coffee now more than ever. I can't wait to get out of bed in the morning to sip that first cup! We have a local roast called Montana Coffee Traders, my favorite is the dark roast Grizzly Blend...oh my!
The one thing that has changed for me since surgery is my craving for hot tea in the afternoon. I have made it a treat for when I am done with my walk. I make it really strong, either Earl Gray, Orange or Double Chai with tsp real sugar and whole cream. I like the idea of adding vanilla Premier Protein to it...I might try that.

Although I don't drink coffee, I do drink this thing called "Crio Bru." It is basically ground and roasted cocoa beans that you brew like coffee, and yes, I drink LOTS more of it since WLS. I also drink a lot of herbal teas.
I used to drink these before WLS, but now, I want these drinks a lot, like all day long. They are soothing, and feel like a treat. Their warmth fills me up.
The Crio does not have caffeine in it, but it does have theobromine, which is supposedly a mild energy booster, but not as aggressive as caffeine. I can drink a mug at bedtime and sleep fine, but if I drink more than that at bedtime, I do think it keeps me up. Partly because of having to use the bathroom!
I don't know if it has acids that are aggravating my stomach. I don't think so, but I sometimes wonder, since I drink so much of it.
In the morning, I make a large pot of herbal tea, usually a fruity one, and a large carafe (French Press) of the Crio. When I drink that Crio, I brew another large carafe.
I don't sweeten any of them. I do add a small amount of unsweetened soy milk to the Crio, and that makes it seem yummy to me.
I've been thinking about buying this. I have what might be a dumb question..but does it taste like cocoa?
I woke up in between a memory and a dream...
